HC

Heritage Certificate

Deliberately crossing two different purebred breeds (for examples, a Poodle and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) where both parents are already individually registered on ITBR. (have gone through the Full or Extension Registration Process. ONLY Limited Register (companion only) are available.

OVERVIEW

Who The Heritage Certificate is For

The Heritage Certificate (HC) is used for ITBR's first-generation crossbred litters. It is issued where both parent animals are registered on the ITBR Main Register, either as Full Registry or Extension Registry animals, but belong to different breeds, and the resulting litter is therefore a deliberate cross rather than a purebred litter.

All offspring produced under the Heritage Certificate are placed on the Limited Register only, they may not be bred from, and no further pedigree or certificate can be issued for their offspring. The certificate exists to give buyers of crossbred animals the same confidence in parental health testing that buyers of purebred animals receive through a standard ITBR pedigree.

REGISTRATION OF PARENTS

Registration of Parent Animals

Both parent animals must hold current ITBR Main Register status before a Heritage Certificate litter can be applied for. Select the pathway below that applies to each parent.

1

My parent animal is already registered with a recognised body, Dogs Australia, MDBA, ACF, CCCA, or ANCATS. Submit a Pedigree Transfer Application using the form above to bring them onto the ITBR Full Registry Main Register.

2

My parent animal has no prior formal papers. Submit a New Individual Extension Registry Application. Once accepted onto the ITBR Extension Registry Main Register, you may proceed with your Heritage Certificate litter application.

3

Once both parent animals have an ITBR pedigree then you are able to apply for a litter registration as described below.

LITTER REGISTRATION

Registering a Extension Registered Litter

To register a litter on the Heritage Certificate Registry, both parents must hold an Extension/Fully Registry pedigree on the Main Register with ITBR. The following must be submitted within 4 months of birth or late fees apply:

1

Completed ITBR Litter Registration Form

2

DNA health test results for both parents covering all applicable conditions for the breed — tests must have been completed before mating, not after

3

ITBR Stud Agreement (if you do not own the sire) — must be signed before the mating, not after

4

Genetic compatibility confirmed — ITBR checks before processing the registration

All live offspring must be registered. Selective registration — registering only some offspring from a litter — is a breach of the ITBR Code of Conduct and will result in a formal breach finding. This includes any offspring you retain for yourself.

Processing time: within 15 business days from receipt of a complete application and full transfer fee being paid.

MAIN REGISTER VS LIMITED REGISTER

Choosing the Register at Time of Litter Registration

All Heritage litters must be registered on the Limited Register. This is not a choice, it is compulsory. This means no offspring from these pairings can be used for further breeding. This is what each register means.

Main Register
(FR-M)

  • Full breeding and conformation showing rights

  • Offspring are eligible for breeding under ITBR

  • Can be downgraded to Limited Register at any time by the breeder

Limited Register
(FR-L)

  • Companion animal — no breeding or conformation showing rights

  • Offspring cannot be registered with ITBR for breeding purposes

  • Upgrade to Main Register requires prior written approval from the original breeder

If the owner hasn't specified to you that they intend to breed or show with the animal under the ITBR register it is always best to place your offspring on the limited register.
