DECISION GUIDE

Not sure which registry applies to you?

Answer our simple questions below and we'll point you to the right pathway. Every pathway requires DNA health testing, what differs is the heritage documentation required.

ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS IN ORDER

Four Questions. One Answer.

Stop as soon as a YES answer applies to you.

Question 1

Does your animal already have full registration papers from one of our approved breeding organisations, i.e. ITBR, Dogs Australia (ANKC), MDBA, ACF, CCCA, or ANCATS?

YES — my animal has full pedigree papers from a recognised body →

No - Continue to question 2

Question 2

Is your animal clearly purebred, either with partial pedigree paperwork from another body, or no pedigree with the plan to verify heritage through a DNA breed composition test (dogs) or photographic evidence (cats)?

YES — my animal is purebred without full pedigree papers →

No - Continue to question 3

Question 3

Are you deliberately crossing two different purebred breeds (for examples, a Poodle and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) where both parents are already individually registered on ITBR (parent animals have to go through one of the above steps)?

YES — I am crossing two different registered purebred breeds →

No - Continue to question 4

Question 4

Are you under you undertaking a structured, multi-generation program with a formal written plan to intentionally develop a new breed over multiple generations.

YES — I have a formal multi-generational breed development plan →

No - If none of the above apply to you please email us before submitting anything

Still not sure?

If your situation doesn't clearly fit one of the four options above, contact ITBR before submitting any application or paying any fee. It takes five minutes to ask the question and could save you from submitting the wrong form entirely.
